On the ramblas again
This is a house on the Ramblas in Barcelona. This has been shot with my iPhone 3gs. The app used to shot the image was HDR Pro, editing was done using Dynamic Light and PicGrunger.

I’ve been following your Ramblas series with some interest.. I ended up in Barcelona in 1988 and found a tainted, rambling secret city. I spent 2 years there and lived in the Barrio Gothico, calle Princesa, which was full of pimps,whores,addicts,writers,poets and painters….
I returned in 2009 and was disappointed to find that the ‘edge’ of this fantastic city had been highjacked by corporate business and the city council and had been completely sanitised!!
Your photos have truly bought back to me my memories of this lost city… The colours and textures are really how I remember the Ramblas…

I know what you mean, have been to Barcelona in 2001 and then last summer, and had the same experience.
It is sad, places we love do change. I’ve been several times to Bali and experienced similar situations, there was a solitary beach at Jimbaran where I talked to fishermen in the 80s, then it became in time an exclusive high end resort and later a site for terrorist bombings.
I received an analysis about my pictures, that they look to the past overcharging it with emotions. Perhaps it’s true, and maybe that’s why these images of the ramblas, though shot in 2011, were able to bring you back at your “own” ramblas.
